Civil Partnership - Commitment
Ceremony for Gay
and Lesbian Weddings in Scotland
Civil
Partnership legislation in Scotland for Gay and Lesbian couples
came into force in December 2005 and as such will allow same sex
couples to have a Civil
Partnership ceremony which gives them similar legal rights as
heterosexual couples .
The legal paperwork should be completed and returned at the appropriate
time, to the registrar of the area in which your ceremony
is to take place, from this a document of Civil
Partnership Agreement will be produced which will be
signed by both parties at the ceremony.
Once the legal document has been signed some
registrar's may conduct a ceremony of celebration after the Civil
commitment Ceremony.
In certain areas the registrar will attend a given venue to officiate at the Civil
Commitment ceremony.
This, however, varies from area to area depending on the laws of ruling councils
and the given venues having the appropriate license. After the official
proceedings you can move on to host your reception and dinner with your friends
and families at your chosen location.
